Short stories are powerhouses of craft: characterization, pacing, word choice, structure... I'll assign a couple of stories to read before each class, by some of the best in the business. We'll discuss, then we'll practice writing ourselves. (Good writing is always inspiring.)

Then fiction is for you! Come learn about elements of fiction, then put them to use in your own writing with prompts and exercises. Leave with new knowledge, new ideas, and new beginnings to finish on your own. No writing experience necessary, but totally welcome.
